Exodus YouthWorx UK first charity to benefit from Edmonton Green Cares

29th March 2021

Charities, community groups and local good causes can now book free promotional space in a prime retail location thanks to a new initiative launched by Edmonton Green Shopping Centre

Edmonton Green Cares will provide local charitable organisations with an opportunity to promote their services, raise funds or gain awareness free of charge in a dedicated space on the North Mall, one of the shopping centre’s busiest footfall areas.

The first charity to benefit from this initiative is Exodus YouthWorx UK, which has been working to support vulnerable families across Edmonton and Enfield since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

Exodus YouthWorx will use the space to encourage donations for its Eggcellent Easter Egg Appeal, which will see the charity hand out thousands of Easter Eggs to schools and vulnerable families in the local area.

Tara Hanna, the charity’s Director, said: “Edmonton Green Cares is a fantastic initiative and a brilliant way for the shopping centre to support local charities after a challenging year.

“We have had an overwhelming response to our chocolate egg appeal so far. We have raised over £1,200 on our Local Giving page and received over 400 eggs so far. We are hoping this last push on the Edmonton Green Cares stand will help us smash our target.”

According to the Charity Retail Association, the third sector is facing significant revenue loss of up to £28m for each month of lockdown, with charity shops currently being closed.

Sabri Marsaoui, Asset Director at Edmonton Green, said: “We have so many fabulous community and charitable organisations across the borough – it is our duty to step in and support wherever possible.

“One thing that we have at our disposal is space, which can be utilised to raise awareness and collect much needed funds and donations for these great local initiatives. We stand firmly behind our community, and always will.”

To be eligible for the Edmonton Green Cares scheme, organisations must operate locally in Edmonton Green and/or Enfield.

Rebecca Bird, Retail Manager at Edmonton Green, said: “We wanted to create a dedicated space just for local charities, non-profits and organisations to be able to promote the amazing work they do in the community free of charge.

“Following a tough year, we want to be able to support our community and as many charities as we can.”
