We are Edmonton and We are WASTE WARRIORS

6th November 2019

Social enterprise with a 10-year track record of delivering healthy eating and sustainability workshops come to local shopping centre.

BreadnButter provide a Waster Warrior workshop to a selection of primary schools in the heart of North London. Covering areas such as Barnet, Haringey, Enfield and Hackney, the North London Waste Authority funded scheme deliver to 5 local primary schools right in Enfield. Due to its popularity, the scheme is a first come first serve basis and runs for a duration of 5 weeks.

On the 6th November BreadnButter will showcase their hard work on South Mall in Edmonton Green.

Focusing on key messages, the project teaches children:

Recycling and the 3 R’s; how to recycle or upcycle everyday materials on.

Plastic Pollution; understanding the consequences of plastic pollution for people and the planet.

Food Waste; How to reduce food waste and teaching how to cook using food that would otherwise would have gone to waste.

Sustainability; Understand the local/global impact of our meat overconsumption & livestock rearing as well as looking at alternative diets.

Vicki Williams, Founder of BreadnButter explains “it is the perfect project offering families who would usually turn to alternative means, the chance to learn new skills. It’s about giving back to the community as well as delivering for the future.”

BreadnButter have partnered up with The Felix Project, who provide salvaged food for all the classes.

Pupils from St John and St James Primary, Houndsfield Primary, Brettenham Primary, Hazelwood Primary and Meridian Angel Primary will put their skills to the test as they engage with the local community through activities such as true/false statements, what you can and cannot recycle, bug tasting as well as reviewing food donated by The Felix Project and providing free samples!

Come down and show your support on Wednesday 6th November from 11am until 12pm!
